Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Throw vs Blanket: Sizes, Weights, Fabrics and Price per Size

On Barefoot Dreams, "throw" and "blanket" are not reliable size labels. A CozyChic Throw is always 54" x 72", but products called "blanket" range from a 30" x 30" baby receiving blanket to a 106" x 92" king bed blanket, with travel, sofa and 45" x 60" lap sizes in between. Weight varies too: the brand sorts its knits into Feather, Light, Medium and Heavy weights, and that label matters as much as the fabric name. This article compares the sizes, weights and fabrics across the CozyChic range so you can pick the right one for a sofa, a bed or a gift. For the brand's policies and robes, see our full Barefoot Dreams review.

At a glance Checked October 2026

Throws are 54" x 72" and mostly $158 to $198. Bed blankets come in Full/Queen (90" x 92") and King (106" x 92") from $198, and the 45" x 60" "blankets" are smaller lap and travel sizes from about $138. Read the dimensions and the weight label on each listing, not the product name.

  • Best for: Shoppers choosing between a sofa throw, a bed-size blanket or a travel blanket in the CozyChic knit.
  • Typical price: $158 to $198 for throws, $145 to $178 for 45" x 60" blankets, $198 to $278 for bed blankets.
  • Watch out for: Several 45" x 60" products cost the same as a larger 54" x 72" throw.

Sizes: what "throw" and "blanket" mean on the site

These are the sizes listed on full-price CozyChic products when we checked:

  • 54" x 72" (throw): the CozyChic Throw ($158), Ribbed Throw ($165), Waffle Throw ($165), CozyChic Lite Ribbed Throw ($167), patterned and faux fur throws ($178 to $198) and licensed MLB, NBA, Team USA and Disney throws ($198 to $228).
  • 45" x 60" (lap or travel blanket): the Holiday Tree Blanket ($138), Contrast Tip Blanket ($145), Rib Travel Blanket ($148), Classic Disney Travel Blanket ($158), Linea Plaid and Trellis blankets ($178) and character blankets such as Disney Ariel, Jasmine and Lilo & Stitch ($168 to $178).
  • Other in-between sizes: the CozyChic Malibu Blanket is 50" x 65" ($180), and the American Flag Blanket is 45" x 70" ($198).
  • Sofa Blanket: sized to the furniture rather than the person: 66" x 35" for a 2-seat sofa ($128) or 106" x 38" for a 3-seat sofa ($148). It has ribbed borders and can be draped over the back, the seat or both.
  • Bed blankets: the CozyChic Ribbed Bed Blanket ($198 Full/Queen, $228 King) and Waffle Bed Blanket ($248 Full/Queen, $278 King), at 90" x 92" and 106" x 92".
  • Baby sizes: stroller blankets at 30" x 40" ($78 to $98), receiving blankets at 30" x 30" ($68) and the CozyChic Lite Ribbed Baby Blanket at 30" x 40" ($85).

A 54" x 72" throw covers one adult on a sofa or the foot of a bed. If you want something that tucks in on a full or queen bed, only the bed blankets are designed for that.

Weight: Feather, Light, Medium and Heavy

Most throw and blanket listings carry a weight label with a short description. In the brand's words:

  • Cozy Feather Weight: "A featherlight knit" that is "seasonless." Used on CozyChic Lite pieces such as the Lite Ribbed Throw and Lite Ribbed Baby Blanket.
  • Cozy Light Weight: "The original Cozy fabrication," described as "fluffy and light yet comfortably warm for every season." This is the label on the classic CozyChic Throw, the Ribbed Throw, the Ribbed Bed Blanket, the Contrast Tip Blanket, the travel blankets and the Sofa Blanket.
  • Cozy Medium Weight: "warm through the cooler months but it's light enough to enjoy year-round." Used on the Waffle Throw, the Waffle Bed Blanket, the Holiday Waffle Cable Throw, the Malibu Blanket and the licensed team throws.
  • Cozy Heavy Weight: "The heaviest knit weight in the Cozy lineup." Used on the Cloud Faux Fur Throw, the Lush Knit Leopard Throw, the Dream Channel faux fur set and some patterned throws such as the Navarro, Sorreno Stripe and Canyon Plaid throws.

No product weight in ounces or GSM is given, so these labels are the only guide to warmth. One quirk: the "Ribbed" name appears at two weights. The CozyChic Ribbed Throw is Light Weight, while the CozyChic Lite Ribbed Throw is Feather Weight, and the two cost $165 and $167.

Fabrics: CozyChic, Lite, Cotton blends and faux fur

Barefoot Dreams' fabric page gives fiber content for some knits but not all:

  • CozyChic: 100% polyester, "suitable for cooler weather." The CozyChic Throw page says it "won't shrink, pill or wrinkle," which is the brand's claim.
  • CozyChic Lite: a nylon and rayon blend, "suitable year-round."
  • CozyChic Cotton: CozyChic fabric blended with cotton, with no percentages. The CozyChic Cotton Buffalo Plaid Throw ($178) is an example.
  • CozyChic Lush Knit: CozyChic yarn "twisted with our new feather-like Lush Knit." No fiber content is listed.
  • Cloud Faux Fur and Dream Channel Faux Fur: a longer, "ultra plush" pile and a shorter channel-stitched pile. No fiber content is listed for either.

Care is the same across fabrics: machine wash on delicate in cold water with a gentle detergent, tumble dry on the lowest heat or lay flat, avoid heat, fabric softener and dryer sheets, and store flat. For a king bed blanket, check that your washer can handle the size on a delicate cycle before you buy.

Price for the size: how the options compare

Dividing the listed price by surface area shows how much the format, rather than the fabric, drives cost:

  • CozyChic Throw, 54" x 72" (27 sq ft), $158: about $5.85 per square foot.
  • Contrast Tip Blanket, 45" x 60" (18.75 sq ft), $145: about $7.73 per square foot.
  • Trellis or Linea Plaid Blanket, 45" x 60", $178: about $9.49 per square foot, the same price as several full-size patterned throws.
  • Ribbed Bed Blanket Full/Queen, 90" x 92" (57.5 sq ft), $198: about $3.44 per square foot.
  • Waffle Bed Blanket King, 106" x 92" (67.7 sq ft), $278: about $4.11 per square foot.

The smaller blankets carry other value: the Rib Travel Blanket ($148) folds and zips into a square pillow with two handles, and the licensed designs cost more than solids at every size. Still, if you mainly want coverage, the classic throw and the Ribbed Bed Blanket are the strongest value in the range.

Which one to choose

  • Sofa, one person: the 54" x 72" CozyChic Throw or Ribbed Throw in Light Weight, or the Sofa Blanket if you want it to fit the couch itself.
  • Warmer for winter: a Medium Weight waffle throw, or a Heavy Weight faux fur or Lush Knit throw.
  • Year-round or warm climates: the Feather Weight CozyChic Lite Ribbed Throw.
  • Bed: the Ribbed Bed Blanket (Light) or Waffle Bed Blanket (Medium), sized Full/Queen or King.
  • Travel: a 45" x 60" travel blanket that packs into its own pillow.
  • Baby: 30" x 40" stroller blankets, or the CozyChic Lite Ribbed Baby Blanket.

Embroidery is offered on the CozyChic Throw, but embroidered items are final sale and add 7 to 10 business days of processing. Any working offers we find are listed on our Barefoot Dreams coupons page.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Barefoot Dreams throw big enough for a bed?

Not to cover one. The 54" x 72" throw works at the foot of a bed. For full coverage, the bed blankets come in Full/Queen (90" x 92") and King (106" x 92").

What is the difference between the CozyChic Throw and the Ribbed Throw?

Both are 54" x 72", CozyChic knit and labeled Light Weight. The Ribbed Throw has a ribbed texture and costs $165, against $158 for the smooth CozyChic Throw.

Which Barefoot Dreams throw is warmest?

Look for the Cozy Heavy Weight label, used on the faux fur and Lush Knit throws and some patterned throws. The brand gives no measured warmth or weight figures.

The bottom line

Ignore the product name and read two lines on each Barefoot Dreams listing: the dimensions and the Cozy weight label. The $158 CozyChic Throw is the standard sofa size at a fair price for its area, the bed blankets give the most coverage per dollar, and the 45" x 60" blankets mostly suit travel, kids or a specific design you love.
