Credo Beauty Review: The Credo Clean Standard, Brands, Prices, Shipping and Returns

Credo Beauty is a US beauty retailer that sells skin care, makeup, hair care, bath and body products and fragrance from dozens of outside brands, plus a small line under its own Credo name. It sells online and through its own stores. Everything it stocks is meant to meet The Credo Standard, the retailer's own set of rules on ingredients, testing, packaging and sourcing. Most products cost between about $28 and $68, with minis and ornaments from around $8 and gift sets and fragrance up to about $320.

This review covers what Credo sells, what its standard does and does not tell you, typical prices, shipping, and a 30-day return policy that accepts gently used products but charges a $5 return fee.

At a glance Checked October 2026

Credo Beauty suits US shoppers who want to buy several brands that have been screened against one retailer's ingredient and packaging rules, and who like to read a full ingredient list before ordering. It is a multi-brand store, so you will find ILIA, Kosas, Tower 28, RMS Beauty, Westman Atelier, Nécessaire, Tata Harper, OSEA and others in one cart. Keep in mind that "clean" here means Credo's own standard, not a legal or government definition.

  • Best for: Shoppers comparing makeup, skin care and body care across several screened brands, with full ingredient lists on product pages.
  • Typical price: About $28–$68 for most items; hand creams around $28, foundations $36–$69, serums and essences up to about $120.
  • Shipping: Free standard shipping (the FAQ sets a $35 minimum after discounts); expedited $5; express $24. All 50 states, no international shipping.
  • Returns: 30 days from delivery for unused or gently used products, minus a $5 return fee.
  • Watch out for: Marked-down items, gifts with purchase, reward redemptions and gift cards are final sale, and shipping charges are not refunded.

What Credo Beauty sells

Credo works like a department store for brands that pass its screening. The main categories on the site are Skin Care, Makeup, Hair, Bath & Body, Fragrance, Gifts and Sale, with subcategories for sun care and candles and home scents. Among the first 250 products in the store's catalog when we checked, the most common product types were eau de parfum, face brushes, facial moisturizers, blush, shampoo, serums, deodorant and body lotion.

Brands we saw in the catalog included:

  • Makeup: ILIA, Kosas, Tower 28, RMS Beauty, Westman Atelier, Jenny Patinkin and LYS Beauty.
  • Skin care: Tata Harper, True Botanicals, OSEA and Three Ships.
  • Body, hair and fragrance: Nécessaire, AKT, Saltyface, Sweed Beauty, DedCool and Hindsgaul Hair.
  • Credo's own line: the site promotes Credo-branded skin and body care alongside the outside brands.

Product pages show a full ingredient list, the size, shades where relevant, directions, customer reviews and labels such as vegan, fragrance free or cruelty free. The site states that all products it sells are cruelty free.

The Credo Standard: what it covers

The Credo Standard is the retailer's own rulebook, and product pages say an item "meets The Credo Clean Standard." It is not a government or third-party certification, and in the US there is no legal definition of "clean" beauty. Here is how Credo describes it.

  • Four pillars: Product, Packaging, People and Planet, each with "required" and "encouraged" items for brands.
  • Product: brands must meet Credo's ingredient requirements, keep ingredient and supplier documentation, and carry out safety and contaminant testing, which Credo says includes heavy metals and PFAS, plus lot traceability.
  • Transparency: full ingredient disclosure using INCI names on labels and online, notifying Credo of formula changes, and categorizing fragrance for shoppers.
  • Packaging: Credo's sustainable packaging guidelines, limits on single-use materials, 50% post-consumer recycled content where applicable, and clear disposal instructions.
  • People: no child or forced labor and no animal testing by the finished-product brand.

The ingredient side is explained in an Ingredient Library. It lists ingredients and ingredient groups Credo restricts or prohibits, with its reasons. Examples include cyclic silicones such as D4, D5 and D6, which Credo says it prohibits "primarily because of their environmental persistence," butylated ingredients such as BHA and BHT, hydroquinone, and many ethoxylated ingredients such as PEGs. Credo also says it restricts certain parabens. Its evaluation page says decisions "aren't based on a single study or opinion" and consider regulation, exposure and available alternatives.

What the standard does not mean: a product meeting it is not necessarily fragrance free, natural or suitable for sensitive skin. One hand cream we looked at is tagged both "Naturally Derived Fragrance" and "Synthetic Fragrance." The standard is a screening rule set from the retailer, so read each product's ingredient list and labels the same way you would anywhere else.

Prices

Prices are in US dollars and are generally the brands' own list prices. Across the first 250 products in the catalog, the median price was $42, and half fell between $28 and $68. Examples at the time of writing:

  • ILIA Precision Dual Sharpener: $8
  • Nécessaire The Hand Cream (2.8 oz): $28
  • AKT The Deodorant Balm (50 ml): $29
  • Tower 28 Swipe Serum Foundation, 36 shades: $36
  • ILIA Sun Serum Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50: $40
  • Westman Atelier Suprême Bio-Complex Liquid Foundation: $69
  • Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence: $58 (50 ml) or $98 (125 ml)
  • Westman Atelier Pore Refining Complex (15 ml): $120

Gift sets made up a large share of the newest listings, typically $25 to $175, and a few fragrance and skin care sets went higher. Credo runs storewide sale events from time to time, and its FAQ says marked-down merchandise is final sale. Accepted payment methods are major credit cards, PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Afterpay.

Shipping

Credo ships to all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii. It does not ship internationally or to Puerto Rico, Canada, Guam or other US territories, and it does not accept freight forwarders. The FAQ says it now ships to PO boxes.

  • Free shipping: 3 to 8 business days via DHL or USPS. The site banner says "Free shipping on all orders," but the FAQ says the order must be over $35 after discounts. Check the total at checkout.
  • Expedited: $5, 2 to 4 business days.
  • Express: $24, 1 to 2 business days via UPS.

In-stock orders can take up to 48 hours to ship, and orders placed after 1 p.m. Central on a Friday ship the following Monday. Orders of $500 or more need a signature. Orders cannot be changed or cancelled once confirmed, damaged items must be reported within two weeks with a photo, and missing packages reported more than 14 days after the delivery date are not eligible for a resolution.

Returns and exchanges

  • Window: 30 days from delivery, started through an online return portal with your order number and ZIP code. Online orders can also be returned in a Credo store within 30 days.
  • Condition: unused or gently used products qualify for a full refund or credit; substantially used products do not, and Credo decides at its discretion.
  • Fee: $5, deducted from the refund. You receive a prepaid label or a USPS QR code. Original shipping charges are not refunded.
  • Final sale: marked-down items, gifts with purchase, reward redemptions and gift cards.
  • Exchanges: choose store credit in the portal, issued as a non-expiring e-gift card. Items bought with that credit can only be returned for credit again.
  • Timing: refunds generally within 48 hours of the return being marked delivered, or up to seven business days in busy periods.

Accepting gently used items is more generous than many beauty retailers, which helps if a foundation shade is wrong after one try. The $5 fee and final-sale rules on sale items still apply.

Who should buy from Credo Beauty

  • Shoppers who want one retailer's ingredient screen applied across many brands, with the reasons published in an Ingredient Library.
  • Makeup buyers testing shades, since gently used products can be returned within 30 days.
  • Regular beauty shoppers who will use a points program and buy enough to clear the free-shipping minimum.

Look elsewhere if you live outside the 50 states, want a product certified by an independent body rather than a retailer, or mainly shop sales, since marked-down items cannot be returned.

Credo Beauty coupon codes

We did not find a verified public code at the time of writing, and we do not publish codes we cannot check. Offers stated on the site are free standard shipping (over $35 after discounts, per the FAQ), a 10% code emailed to new account holders, $25 off a first order through a member referral, and the Inner Glow Club, where points never expire and members get a birthday code. Only one discount code can be used per order. Any working offers we find are listed on our Credo Beauty coupons page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Credo Beauty's "clean" standard a certification?

No. The Credo Standard is the retailer's own set of requirements for the brands it sells. It is not a government or independent third-party certification.

Can I return makeup I have tried?

Yes, if it is unused or gently used, within 30 days of delivery, minus a $5 fee. Substantially used products, sale items and gifts with purchase cannot be returned.

Does Credo Beauty ship to Canada?

No. Credo ships only within the 50 US states and does not ship to Canada, Puerto Rico or US territories.

Is shipping really free on every order?

The site banner says so, but the FAQ sets a $35 minimum after discounts for free shipping. Check the shipping line at checkout.

The bottom line

Credo Beauty is a convenient way to shop many screened beauty brands in one place, with full ingredient lists, prices that match the brands' own and a 30-day policy that takes back gently used products. Treat its "clean" label as the retailer's own standard, read the ingredient list for anything you are sensitive to, and remember the $5 return fee and final-sale rule on marked-down items.
