Olive et Oriel Review: Australian-Made Wall Art, Canvas and Wallpaper — What US Buyers Should Know

Olive et Oriel is an Australian wall art and wallpaper company based on the Central Coast of New South Wales, about an hour north of Sydney. It sells art prints, framed prints, framed canvases, wallpaper, murals, wall decals and personalised photo art, and says every piece is printed and framed at its own production facilities in New South Wales. It ships worldwide, including to the United States.

This review covers what Olive et Oriel sells, what the prints and wallpapers are made of, how pricing works, and the shipping, duties and return rules — which are stricter than many US buyers will expect, and worth reading before you order.

What Olive et Oriel sells

The range is very large: the store advertises around 10,000 designs, in sizes from A4 up to 120 x 150 cm, and its framed art collection alone lists more than 10,000 items. The main categories are:

  • Art prints and posters. Unframed, or framed in oak, white or black timber, in sizes from A5 to 120 x 150 cm, with or without a white border.
  • Framed canvas. Gallery-wrapped canvases in floating timber frames, from A3 upwards.
  • Wallpaper and murals. Paste-the-wall and peel-and-stick wallpaper, grasscloth and sisal, commercial vinyl, and panoramic murals sized to your wall.
  • Wall decals and kids' rooms. Decal sets and nursery designs.
  • Personalised art. Upload-your-photo prints and family photo pieces.

Artists featured on the site include Dan Hobday, Mario Stefanelli, Julita Elbe and Leigh Viner, along with a collection of Aboriginal art from Warlukurlangu Artists.

Materials

The store's FAQ is specific about materials. Prints use FSC-certified 230 g/m² uncoated matte paper, and frames are FSC solid timber with acrylic rather than glass — lighter and less likely to shatter in transit. Canvases are 330 g/m² poly-cotton matte, gallery-wrapped in a shadow-box timber frame. The store says its inks are VOC-free and its wallpapers PVC-free. Wallpaper is printed in numbered 48 cm-wide panels made to your wall size, and peel-and-stick is a woven fabric with an adhesive backing.

Framed artworks bought since January 2021 carry a lifetime guarantee against fading, excluding sale items, according to the store's returns page.

Prices

Prices are shown in Australian dollars by default and include Australian tax; a country selector lets you switch to US dollars and around 40 other markets. Because most designs come in many sizes, the same artwork can range from under AU$10 to several hundred dollars. Examples at the time of writing, in AUD:

  • Wallpaper sample (48 x 40 cm): AU$4.99
  • Afternoon Drive I art print: AU$9.95 for A5 unframed, AU$74.95 framed in A3, AU$169.95 framed in A2, AU$699.95 framed at 120 x 150 cm
  • Personalised photo print: AU$74.95 (A3) to AU$399.95 (70 x 100 cm)
  • Lavender Flowers wall decal set: AU$79.95
  • Water Dreaming in Teal I framed canvas (Warlukurlangu Artists): from AU$179.95
  • Under the Sea wallpaper: AU$102.95 for 144 x 120 cm, AU$343.95 for 240 x 240 cm

Discounts on individual items are uncommon. The store runs periodic sales on art and on wallpaper and decals, offers 15% off when you buy a suggested pairing, and has a price-match policy against comparable Australian-made products.

Shipping and duties

Olive et Oriel ships worldwide except mirrors, with international orders sent by DHL express. Shipping is calculated at checkout from weight, size and destination; we did not find a free-shipping threshold in the shipping policy. The store estimates 4–8 business days for international DHL delivery once an order is dispatched.

Dispatch takes longer than the product pages imply. The shipping policy gives "within 72 business hours" for art, wallpaper and decals, counted in Australian business hours — the store's own example is a Monday order dispatching on Thursday or Friday. Orders placed with a discount code can take up to 14 business days to dispatch, and peak months take longer still.

Duties are the point to clarify. The shipping and returns pages say import duties and taxes are the recipient's responsibility and are not refundable, while the homepage advertises duties paid on wallpaper orders and the About page mentions duties covered for US customers. If duties matter to you, confirm with help@oliveetoriel.com before ordering.

Returns: store credit, not refunds

This is the most important policy to understand:

  • Change of mind: within 30 days you can return full-priced framed art, framed canvas, unframed prints and posters for store credit or an exchange — not a refund. Items must be unused and in their original packaging, and you pay the return postage.
  • Final sale: sale items, anything bought with a promo code, bundles, and all custom products — wallpaper, murals, decals and personalised photo art — cannot be returned.
  • Wrong wallpaper size: you need to place a new order, so order a sample first and add 10–15% extra.
  • Damage in transit: report it within 7 days with photos of the item and outer packaging to get a replacement.
  • Cancellations carry fees, for example AU$15 per framed artwork before production and AU$30 after; printed wallpaper cannot be cancelled.

Wallpaper such as Under the Sea is made to order, which means it is final sale — order the AU$4.99 sample first.

Payment and company details

Checkout icons include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, UnionPay, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay, and the FAQ also lists Afterpay and Zip for paying in instalments. The store trades under Bonheur Creatives Pty Limited, based in West Gosford, New South Wales, with a showroom open by appointment.

Who should buy from Olive et Oriel

  • Buyers who want large framed art in a specific size and frame finish, especially pieces over 100 cm that are hard to find in stores.
  • Wallpaper projects where you want a design printed to your exact wall measurements, with free colour and scale changes on custom designs.
  • Fans of Australian and Aboriginal art looking for licensed work from named artists and art centres.

Think twice if you need a cash refund option, are buying on a tight deadline, or are ordering from the US without confirming duties — shipping from Australia, dispatch times and the store-credit-only returns all add up.

Olive et Oriel coupon codes

We did not find a verified public coupon code at the time of writing, and we do not publish codes we cannot confirm. Note that items bought with a promo code become final sale and may take longer to dispatch. The store's own sales, pairing discounts and price match are the most reliable ways to save. Any working offers we find are listed on our Olive et Oriel coupons page.
