Candied Nails Review: $9 Nail Polish and Gel Strips, and the Return Rules to Know

Candied Nails is a small nail-art brand from Phoenix, Arizona, selling sets of real nail polish strips and semi-cured gel nail strips online, plus a mini curing lamp for the gel sets. The business is listed as Candied Nails, LLC, and a 2020 press release on its blog names Soony Costello as founder; the site says it relaunched in June 2025. Almost everything costs the same: $9.00 regular price, shown at a $7.20 sale price at the time of writing.

This review covers what Candied Nails sells, how the two strip types differ, prices, shipping, the return rules (which are not consistent across the site) and what is missing from the store.

At a glance Checked October 2026

Candied Nails suits US shoppers who want cheap, themed nail wraps for holidays and events and are happy to apply them at home. The main catches are a thin store (empty reviews page, placeholder FAQ text) and return rules that only cover unopened packs, with some pages promising a refund and another only store credit.

  • Best for: DIY manicures on a budget, seasonal looks for Christmas, Valentine's Day or Halloween, and trying gel strips without a salon visit.
  • Typical price: $9.00 per 16-nail set, shown on sale at $7.20; the mini gel lamp is the same price.
  • Shipping: USPS First Class with tracking for $5.00, or Priority Mail for $8.00; the store says orders usually arrive in 3–5 days.
  • Returns: Only new, unopened packs, within 30 days, with an RMA requested by email; you pay return postage.
  • Watch out for: Opened sets cannot be returned, one page says returns earn store credit rather than a refund, and international shipping is claimed but not priced in the policy.

What Candied Nails sells

The catalog had 128 nail sets and one accessory at the time of writing, although the homepage still advertises "over 200 designs". Every set contains 16 strips, and they fall into two groups:

  • Real gel nail polish strips (73 sets). Semi-cured gel strips that you apply, set under a UV/LED lamp, then trim and file. Names include Popsicle, Razzle Dazzle, Blue Marble, French Nails and Green Slime.
  • Real nail polish strips (55 sets). Air-dry polish wraps that you apply and file, with no lamp needed. Designs include Ribbons, Watermelon, Tie Dye, Starlight and Golden Swirl.
  • Sun Lamp for Gel Nails. A small USB-powered UV/LED lamp for curing the gel strips.

Designs lean playful: by the store's own tags there are about 49 geometric and 30 floral sets, 22 Valentine's, 19 Christmas and 5 Halloween designs, plus glitter, animal-print and food themes such as Strawberry Gingham and Cotton Candy.

Gel strips vs polish strips: what the product pages say

Product descriptions are short and nearly identical across the range, so expect to compare designs rather than specs. The points worth knowing:

  • Set size. Every listing says 16 nails per set. That covers ten nails with spares for sizing.
  • Wear time. Both types are described as lasting "about 10–14 days". This is the brand's own claim; real wear depends on nail prep, hand washing and how well the edges are filed.
  • Gel strips need a lamp. The gel listings say to apply the strips, "set with our curing lamp", then cut and file the excess. If you do not already own a UV/LED nail lamp, add the store's lamp or use one you have.
  • Apply soon after opening. The store's how-to page says the wraps start to dry once the package is opened, so use them right away. That instruction also matters for returns (see below).
  • Safety claim. Listings state the stickers are "safe and non-toxic", but no ingredient lists are given. If you have sensitive skin or nail allergies, ask for ingredients before buying; the returns page adds that the store "cannot be held liable for improper use or bodily reactions".

The lamp listing describes a mini, portable unit with a one-press 45-second cure and a long-press 60-second cure, USB power from a computer, power bank or phone charger, and a dual-wavelength design for UV and LED gels. The product photo shows a generic "SUNmini" lamp, so treat it as a basic accessory rather than a Candied Nails-made device; no warranty is mentioned.

Prices

Prices are in US dollars. Every item in the catalog, including the lamp, has a regular price of $9.00 and was shown at $7.20 (marked 20% off) at the time of writing. That makes the math simple:

  • One polish or gel set: $7.20 on sale ($9.00 regular)
  • Gel set plus the mini lamp: $14.40 on sale

Add $5.00 or $8.00 for shipping, and 8.25% sales tax on orders shipped within Arizona, according to the ordering page. Of the 128 sets, all but one (Rainbow Glitter) were in stock.

Shipping

According to the shipping policy, orders go by USPS: First Class Mail with tracking costs $5.00, and Priority Mail costs $8.00. No free-shipping threshold is listed. The FAQ and product pages say packages usually ship the same or next day and arrive in 3–5 days, while the ordering page says orders are processed in 1–2 business days, with nothing processed on weekends or federal holidays.

International shipping is less clear. The FAQ answers "Do You Ship Internationally?" with "Yes!", and the ordering page notes that international USPS shipments will not have updated online tracking, but the shipping policy only lists the two domestic rates. Shoppers in the UK, Canada or Australia should check the rate at checkout, and expect limited tracking, before paying.

Returns: unopened packs only, and mixed messages on refunds

The refund policy opens with "a 100% satisfaction guarantee", but the conditions are narrow:

  • Window: refunds and exchanges within 30 days of purchase.
  • Condition: new, unopened packages only. Product pages and the FAQ both say opened or used products cannot be returned.
  • Process: email candiednailsllc@gmail.com for an RMA number first; returns without authorization are not accepted.
  • Cost: you pay return postage. The policy gives a P.O. box in Phoenix, AZ 85064 for returns.

A separate "Returns and Exchanges" page (it sits at the site's /pages/wholesale address) says accepted returns are issued as store credit in the form of a gift card, and that exchanges work the same way. That conflicts with the refund policy, so ask by email whether you would get money back or credit before sending anything. Because the strips start drying once opened, a design that does not suit you in person is effectively non-returnable.

Payment and company details

The ordering page lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, and says checks and money orders are not accepted; the FAQ also mentions PayPal and Amazon Pay. The contact page gives "Candy Nails LLC", Phoenix, AZ 85022 and a Gmail address, with customer service hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, and replies typically within 24–48 hours. There is no phone number.

What is missing from the store

  • No customer reviews. The Reviews page linked from the homepage is empty, and product pages show no ratings.
  • Placeholder FAQ text. Three FAQ answers, including "Do I have to pay anything to return my items?", still contain lorem ipsum filler.
  • Mismatched product links. Many product web addresses do not match the product they open; for example, the link named "christmas-happy-gel-nails" opens the Oh Christmas Tree set. Check the product name and photo in your cart.

Who should buy from Candied Nails

  • Budget DIY fans who want a themed manicure for a holiday, party or photo and are fine with roughly two weeks of wear.
  • Gel-curious shoppers who want to try semi-cured gel strips for under $15 including a basic lamp.

Think twice if you want detailed ingredient information, verified customer reviews, or the option to return a set after opening it.

Candied Nails coupon codes

We did not find a verified public coupon code at the time of writing, and we do not publish codes we cannot confirm. The savings you can rely on are the store-wide sale price ($7.20 instead of $9.00 per set at the time of writing). A June 2025 relaunch discount was limited to its first seven days, and the brand-rep program gives participants a personal 15% code to share, earning a free set for every three uses. Any working offers we find are listed on our Candied Nails coupons page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Candied Nails legit?

Candied Nails is run by Candied Nails, LLC in Phoenix, Arizona, has posted press releases dating back to 2020, lists a returns P.O. box and ships by USPS with tracking. The store is small and thinly maintained: the reviews page is empty, some FAQ answers are placeholder text and the return pages contradict each other, so keep your order confirmation and email support with any questions before you buy.

How long do Candied Nails strips last?

The product pages say each set lasts about 10–14 days. That figure comes from the brand; how long they last for you depends on prep, filing and daily wear.

Do I need a lamp for Candied Nails?

Only for the gel strips. The gel sets are meant to be cured under a UV/LED lamp, which the store sells for the same price as a set. The regular polish strips need no lamp.

Can I return opened Candied Nails?

No. Only new, unopened packs can be returned, within 30 days, after you request an RMA by email. You pay return postage, and one page says returns are credited as store credit rather than refunded.

Does Candied Nails ship outside the US?

The FAQ says yes, but the shipping policy lists only USPS First Class ($5.00) and Priority Mail ($8.00) rates, and international USPS parcels have limited tracking. Check the shipping cost at checkout.

The bottom line

Candied Nails is a low-cost way to try real polish or semi-cured gel nail strips, with a wide range of seasonal designs at a flat $7.20 sale price and cheap USPS shipping. It is a small operation with rough edges: no customer reviews on the site, placeholder FAQ answers and return rules that only cover unopened packs and disagree on refund versus store credit. Order a set or two you are sure about rather than a big haul.
