Tentsile Review: Tree Tents and Giant Hammocks, Load Ratings and Return Fees Explained

Tentsile makes tree tents and giant camping hammocks that hang between three anchor points instead of two, so the floor stretches flat like a trampoline rather than sagging like a classic hammock. The company says it was founded in 2012 by architect Alex Shirley-Smith, that its team is based in the UK near Sheffield and that it runs its own factory in China. US buyers order online, with prices in US dollars.
This review covers what Tentsile sells, load ratings and tree requirements, prices, shipping, return fees and what the "lifetime" warranty covers.
At a glance Checked October 2026
Tentsile suits campers who want a suspended tree tent or giant three-point hammock with published load ratings. The main catch is that its "30-Day Money-Back Guarantee" still involves a restocking fee plus return shipping, and the lifetime warranty excludes poles, UV wear and older products.
- Best for: Campers on wet or uneven ground who want to sleep flat above it, and families or groups who want a shared sleeping platform.
- Typical price: Hammocks start at $189 and tree tents at $249; most popular 2- and 3-person tents cost $429 to $759.
- Shipping: Free over $199 within the lower 48 states (the FAQ says $99); US delivery averages 3–5 working days.
- Returns: 30 days from receipt, tentsile.com purchases only; $20 unopened or $50 used restocking fee (another clause says $30); you pay return shipping.
- Watch out for: You need three healthy trees forming a triangle, and pre-loved and clearance items are final sale with no warranty.
What Tentsile sells
The store had around 90 listings, though many are bundles, spare parts and branded merchandise. The main groups are:
- Tree tents. Enclosed tents with insect mesh and a rainfly, from the 1-person UNA to the 6-person Trilogy, many also in heavier-duty Safari or lighter Air versions.
- Giant hammocks. Open triangular platforms such as the T-Mini and Duo (2-person), the Trillium (3-person) and the Trillium XL (6-person).
- Stacks and bundles. Tents combined with hammocks, ladders and walls to build two-level camps, many listed at 20% off.
- Accessories. Rainflies, insect mesh, insulated quilts, ladders, a Ground Conversion Kit, a RoofKit and a free-standing portable stand.
- Spares and extras. Straps, ratchets, poles, repair kits, tree protector wraps, plus T-shirts, hoodies and mugs.

Before you buy: load ratings, trees and setup
A tree tent is a structural product, and Tentsile's own pages spell out the limits:
- Load ratings. The FAQ lists 550 kg / 1,200 lb for the XL range, 400 kg / 880 lb for the standard range, 220 kg / 485 lb for the lightweight 2-person models and 120 kg / 265 lb for the 1-person UNA.
- Three healthy trees. The anchors must form a triangle with every angle under 90 degrees. Tentsile suggests roughly 4–5 m between trees, offers a Triangulator setup app, and warns that tension loads can reach 15 kN, so walls, posts and columns must not be used.
- Height and setup time. The store recommends hanging at about 1.2 m / 4 ft, "a height that you would feel safe falling from". Product pages quote about 15 minutes to pitch, falling to 10 after a few uses.
- No trees? Ground Conversion Kits let you pitch on the ground, and a $2,399 portable stand is sold for 3-person models.
- Materials and limits. The Stingray rainfly is listed as 70D polyester coated to 5,000 mm, rated for 2,500 UV hours; Safari models use 600D Dacron rated for 3,500. The warranty page sets limits of 35–50 mph wind and 1 inch of snow.
- Weight. The Stingray is listed at 24.4 lb. The Flite page says 10.4 lb but the FAQ says 8 lb, so check before a backpacking trip.
Every tent and hammock ships with tree protector wraps to shield bark, and the store says it follows Leave No Trace principles, is a 1% for the Planet member and has funded more than one million planted trees. These are the company's own claims.

Prices
Prices are in US dollars. Hammocks start at $189, tree tents at $249, and most popular 2- and 3-person tents cost $429 to $759. Larger setups and bundles run into the thousands. Examples at the time of writing:
- T-Mini 2-Person Double Hammock: $189
- UNA 1-Person Hammock Tent: $249 (listed from $329)
- Trillium Giant 3-Person Hammock: $379
- Flite 2-Person Tree Tent: $429
- Stingray 3-Person Tree Tent: $649 (listed from $729)
- Stingray Classic Stack: $1,124 (listed from $1,405)
At the top end, the Trilogy 6-person tent is $2,090 and the made-to-order Universe is $2,399–$2,899, listed as shipping in spring 2027.
Shipping
According to Tentsile's shipping page, orders over $199 ship free within the lower 48 states. Below that, it gives rough US rates of $10 for most accessories and $20 for heavier items. Alaska and Hawaii cost $50–$200. US delivery averages 3–5 working days, and PO boxes are not accepted.
Note that the FAQ says free shipping starts at $99, which conflicts with the shipping page. Route insurance is offered at checkout; if you remove it, Tentsile says it is not responsible for courier loss or porch theft.
Returns and warranty
Product pages promise a "30-Day Money-Back Guarantee", but the returns page attaches fees:
- Window. 30 days from receipt, for purchases made on tentsile.com only.
- Restocking fees. $20 for an unopened box and $50 for a used product, plus possible cleaning, repacking or missing-part charges. A later clause on the same page gives a flat $30 restocking fee for all non-warranty returns, so confirm which applies.
- Shipping. You pay return shipping unless the item is defective, wrong or damaged on arrival.
- Final sale. Pre-loved and clearance items cannot be returned and carry no warranty.
The warranty page offers a "Lifetime Warranty" against manufacturing defects for products bought directly from the website after January 2025. Straps and ratchets are covered for five years, and rainflies are expected to be replaced about every three years. Exclusions include poles and pegs, UV degradation, wind or snow beyond the stated limits, and items bought before 2023.

Payment
Checkout icons include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay and Klarna. A separate page describes pay-in-four plans through Zip, PayPal, Afterpay and Clearpay for orders of $35 to $2,000.
Who should buy from Tentsile
- Campers on wet or uneven ground who want to sleep flat above it.
- Families and groups who want a shared sleeping platform; the 3-person tents are listed for three adults or two adults and two kids.
- Backyard loungers who mainly want a giant hammock rather than a full tent.
- Lightweight hikers considering the UNA or Flite.
Think twice if you rarely camp near suitable trees, if you want a budget tent, or if you are unsure the format suits you: a change-of-mind return still costs a restocking fee plus return shipping on a large package.
Tentsile coupon codes
We did not find a verified public coupon code at the time of writing, and we do not publish codes we cannot confirm. The savings you can rely on are the store's own: sale prices such as $80 off the UNA and Stingray, 20% off many stack and top-up bundles, a clearance section, and free US shipping over $199. The newsletter page offers 10% off a first order, US customers can get 20% off by sending in an old tent of any brand for upcycling, and there is a GovX ID military discount page. Any working offers we find are listed on our Tentsile coupons page.
