Bala Review: Bala Bangles, Weights and Mats, Prices, Shipping Fees and Final-Sale Items

Bala is a Los Angeles fitness brand best known for Bala Bangles, colorful silicone-wrapped wrist and ankle weights that sell in pairs for $55 to $79. Its website also sells hand weights, a weighted ring and bar, kettlebell-style weights, Pilates props, exercise mats, activewear and dozens of bundled kits, most priced between $25 and $165 per item.

This review covers what Bala sells, the weights and sizes to compare, current prices, shipping (charged on every standard order), the 30-day return window with its fees, and the long list of items that are final sale.

At a glance Checked October 2026

Bala suits shoppers who want light, good-looking weights and props for walking, Pilates, barre and home workouts, and who care about color and design as much as the numbers. The weights are light compared with gym equipment. The catches are shipping costs on every order (there is no free-shipping threshold, only a paid membership), a $5 restocking fee plus a label fee on returns, and several heavier products that cannot be returned at all.

  • Best for: Walkers, Pilates and barre fans, and home exercisers who want 1 to 3 lb wearable or hand weights in matching colors.
  • Typical price: Bala Bangles $55–$79 a pair; Bala Bars $39–$59 a pair; Power Ring $49–$89; Beam $119–$165; mats $89–$129.
  • Shipping: Charged on all orders based on address and weight; 3 to 10 business days in the US; no expedited option.
  • Returns: 30 days from purchase for a refund, 30 to 45 days for store credit; $5 restocking fee and return label cost deducted.
  • Watch out for: Beams, all mats, Kettleballs, Power Rings and the Bottle are final sale, as are all international orders.

What Bala sells

The store listed about 120 products when we checked, including add-ons such as gift notes and package protection. Bala describes itself as making "wearable weights and accessories," and says it was featured on Shark Tank and is backed by Mark Cuban and Maria Sharapova. The main groups are:

  • Weights. Bala Bangles (wrist and ankle weights), Bala Bars (hand weights), the Power Ring, the Beam (a weighted bar), the Kettleball and the small Power Ball.
  • Mats. The Play Mat, Wavy Mat, Plush Mat, Compact Mat and Deco Mat, each in Bala's signature shapes and colors, plus matching mat towels.
  • Pilates and props. The Bala Pilates Method resistance straps, the Pilates Halo, resistance bands, balance blocks, foam rollers, an ab roller and a non-weighted Pilates ball.
  • Apparel and accessories. The Everyday line of bras, biker shorts, leggings, sweatshirts and a dress in sizes XS to XXL, grip socks, bottles and hair accessories.
  • Kits. Several dozen bundles, from a $54 two-piece set to a $376 parent-and-child kit, each shown with a crossed-out compare-at price about 10% higher.

Weights, sizes and materials: what to compare

Bala's weights are light by gym standards, so the key decisions are how heavy, how they attach and whether you can return them. What the product pages list:

  • Bala Bangles: sold in pairs in 1, 2 or 3 lb per bangle. The adjustable elastic band with hook-and-loop fastener fits wrists or ankles from 5.5" to 11". The 3 lb version is described as about three times as thick as the 1 lb. Made of steel wrapped in silicone; wipe clean, do not submerge or machine wash.
  • Bala Bars: a pair of hand weights in 1, 2 or 3 lb per bar, each 7" x 2 1/8" x 2 1/8", with a steel core, silicone grip and a carrying case.
  • Power Ring: a single ring in 5, 8 or 10 lb; the 10 lb ring is 12" across and 1.5" thick. Final sale.
  • Bala Beam: a weighted bar in 15, 25 or 35 lb for squats, presses and curls. Final sale.
  • Kettleball: a kettlebell with a rigid handle and a soft, cushioned body in 5 to 30 lb; 7" x 7" x 10". Final sale.
  • Play Mat: 71 3/8" x 26 1/2" in 5 mm or 8 mm thickness, natural rubber base with a waterproof, antimicrobial top layer. Final sale.

On choosing a Bangle weight, Bala's FAQ recommends 1 lb for people who are already active and 2 lb for advanced users, and its product page labels 2 lb as the most popular. The page suggests the 3 lb set for shorter, lower-body sessions, and notes that it sits noticeably higher off the wrist. If you have a joint or health condition, ask a doctor or physical therapist before adding wearable weight. Bala itself says its products should be kept away from anyone under 18, and notes that although they contain no latex, they are made in a facility that handles latex.

Checkout options shown on product pages include Shop Pay and Klarna, and the return policy also mentions Affirm. Bala says Bangles, Bars, the Beam, the Power Ring and Bands can be paid for with an HSA or FSA card through a partner called Flex, which requires a short telehealth consultation to confirm eligibility and checking out as a guest.

Shipping

Bala's shipping policy is unusually blunt: for the contiguous 48 states, all orders are charged for shipping because of the weight of the products. The cost is calculated at checkout from your address and the order weight. The only free-shipping route listed is the paid VIP membership.

  • Processing: orders typically ship within 1 to 3 business days.
  • Carriers: DHL via USPS, FedEx SmartPost or FedEx Ground, depending on weight. Orders may arrive in separate boxes.
  • Delivery: typically 3 to 10 business days. Bala does not offer expedited shipping or guaranteed delivery dates.
  • PO boxes: not supported.
  • Package protection: an optional SavedBy add-on, priced by order value, covers lost, damaged or stolen parcels.

International shipping is available, with the rate shown at checkout after you enter an address. International orders are final sale, and Bala says shipping to Ukraine and Russia is suspended. The policy does not say anything specific about Alaska, Hawaii or US territories.

Returns and exchanges

Returns are handled by email: write to Bala's customer service address and the team sends a return label. Only orders placed on shopbala.com qualify; products bought from other retailers go back to that store. The main terms:

  • Window: 30 days from the date of purchase for a refund. Returns made 30 to 45 days after shipment get store credit only.
  • Fees: a $5 restocking fee applies to all returns, the return label fee is deducted from the refund, and original shipping is not refunded.
  • Exchanges: shipped free both ways.
  • Final sale: Beams, all mats, Kettleballs and Power Rings (because of their weight), the Bottle (for hygiene reasons), Mystery Moves kits and all international orders.
  • Damage: report damaged items within 48 hours of delivery to qualify for a refund; after that Bala offers an exchange or store credit.
  • Timing: allow up to 15 business days for inspection after your return reaches the warehouse, then 3 to 5 business days for the refund to appear.

Bala also offers an "Instant Refund," a temporary credit for your return value minus shipping that you can spend right away. We did not find a published warranty; for the final-sale items, product pages say to email the brand if there is an issue with your order.

Who should buy from Bala

  • Walkers and Pilates or barre regulars who want 1 to 3 lb wearable or hand weights that are comfortable to hold or strap on.
  • Home exercisers with limited space who want matching weights, props and a mat that can stay out in the room.
  • Gift shoppers, since Bangles and Bars are returnable, come in many colors and include carrying cases.

Think twice if you want heavy weights for serious strength training, where conventional dumbbells and kettlebells cost less per pound. Also consider the return rules before buying the Beam, Power Ring, Kettleball or any mat, since none of them can be sent back, and factor shipping into the price of a small order.

Bala coupon codes

We did not find a verified public code at the time of writing, and we do not publish codes we cannot check. The savings we could confirm on Bala's website are standing programs. The VIP Bala Babe membership costs $96 a year and includes 10% off every order, free US shipping, a welcome gift, Balacize access and early access to launches; it renews automatically. The Bundle and Save kits are priced below their listed compare-at totals. There is also a Mystery Moves kit of like-new items in damaged packaging, which is final sale and excluded from other discounts. Any working offers we find are listed on our Bala coupons page.

Frequently asked questions

Does Bala offer free shipping?

Not on standard orders. Bala's shipping policy says all orders to the contiguous US are charged for shipping because of product weight. Free US shipping is included with the $96-a-year VIP membership.

Are Bala Bangles sold as a pair?

Yes. Each listing includes two bangles of the chosen weight, for example two 1 lb bangles for $55, plus a color-matched carrying case.

What size wrist or ankle do Bala Bangles fit?

The product page says the adjustable band fits 5.5" to 11", so the same pair can be worn on wrists or ankles.

Can I return a Bala Power Ring or mat?

No. Beams, all mats, Kettleballs and Power Rings are final sale because of their weight, and the Bottle is final sale for hygiene reasons.

How much does it cost to return to Bala?

A $5 restocking fee applies to all returns, and the cost of the return label is deducted from your refund. Exchanges ship free both ways.

The bottom line

Bala makes light, well-designed weights and props, led by the $55 to $79 Bangles, that work well for walking, Pilates and home workouts. Prices are clear, but every standard order pays shipping, returns cost a $5 restocking fee plus the label, and the heavier items and mats are final sale. Pick your weight carefully, check the shipping cost at checkout, and choose returnable items such as Bangles and Bars if you are unsure.
