Bellami Halo PRO vs Silk Seam Clip-Ins vs The Ponytail: Prices, Weights and Who Each Suits

Bellami Hair sells three kinds of human-hair extensions that you can put in yourself: the Halo PRO kit, which sits on the head on a thin wire; Silk Seam clip-ins, a set of wefts that clip into your hair in rows; and The Ponytail, made with stylist Andrew Fitzsimons, which attaches only to a ponytail. They cover different needs and are priced differently per gram of hair.

At a glance Checked October 2026

The halo is the quickest to put on but is meant for fine to medium, straight to wavy hair. Clip-ins offer the most lengths, the most hair and a curly option. The ponytail is the cheapest way in, but it only works for one style.

  • Halo PRO: 14–20 in, 120–170 g, $320–$595, 25 shades.
  • Silk Seam clip-ins: 16–26 in, 140–360 g, $205–$715, more than 40 shades, plus textured sets.
  • The Ponytail 2.0: 20 in at 100 g or 24 in at 120 g, $215–$365.
  • Watch out for: Returns only for sealed, unopened items within 90 days; "clip and wrap ponytails" are listed as final sale.

Side-by-side: lengths, weights and prices

Prices below are the full prices listed when we checked. Each product has a cheaper tier for dark natural shades, a middle tier for blonde naturals and a higher tier for multi-tone shades.

  • Halo PRO kit: 14 in/120 g from $320, 16 in/140 g from $400, 18 in/160 g from $470, 20 in/170 g from $530. Multi-tone shades run $360 to $595. Some shades, such as Golden Hour Blonde, stop at 18 inches.
  • Silk Seam clip-ins: 16 in/140 g from $205, 18 in/140 g from $230, 20 in/180 g from $315, 22 in/240 g from $480, 24 in/260 g from $565, 26 in/360 g from $650. Multi-tone shades run $230 to $715.
  • The Ponytail 2.0: 20 in/100 g from $215 and 24 in/120 g from $325; blonde naturals are $230 and $345, and highlighted or balayage shades $240 and $365.

Per gram, the clip-ins are the cheapest of the three. In dark natural shades, a 16-inch clip-in set works out to about $1.46 a gram and a 20-inch set about $1.75. A 14-inch halo costs about $2.67 a gram and a 20-inch halo about $3.12. The ponytail falls in between at about $2.15 a gram at 20 inches and $2.71 at 24 inches. Bellami says the halo gives "up to 1.8x more density per inch" than traditional clip-ins, which is its explanation for using fewer grams. That is the brand's claim, not something we measured.

Halo PRO: one piece, on in minutes

The Halo PRO is a single weft on a clear wire that rests on the crown. Your own hair falls over the wire to hide it. The kit includes the halo piece, two framing fill-in pieces, an adjustable fit system with four removable clips and a spare 0.4mm wire, and a pro comb. Bellami says it can be put on in five minutes or less, with no clips needed, although the optional clips can be added for extra hold.

Bellami is unusually specific about who the halo suits. It recommends it for fine to medium density, hair at shoulder length or longer, and straight to wavy textures. It says it may not be the best fit for very thick or high-density hair, hair above the shoulders, blunt cuts or visible thinning at the part. For length, it suggests your current length or up to 1 inch longer for volume, 2 to 4 inches longer for added length, and more than 4 inches for a dramatic look. Since the halo tops out at 20 inches, anyone who wants more length than that needs clip-ins.

One of the fill-in pieces doubles as a color swatch. Bellami says opening the full kit before confirming the shade makes it ineligible for return or exchange, so check the swatch first.

Silk Seam clip-ins: more control and longer lengths

Clip-ins take longer to put in because you section your hair and clip each weft in a row, but you decide exactly where the hair goes. Bellami's own comparison on the halo page says to choose clip-ins if you want more control over placement, targeted volume or highlights and lowlights, and longer lengths up to 26 inches. Silk Seam sets need at least 6 inches of natural hair, according to the brand, and the brand says they suit all hair types, especially fine to medium hair.

Clip-ins are also the only one of the three with a curly option. The Silk Seam Textured line comes in 3A spiral curl, 3C ringlet curl and blow-out textures, in seven shades, at 16, 20 and 24 inches and 200 to 240 grams, priced from $325 to $700. The halo is recommended for straight to wavy hair, and the ponytail listings are straight.

The Ponytail: one style, lowest entry price

The Ponytail adds length and volume to a ponytail only. You tie your own hair back, attach the piece, and wrap a separate strand of hair around the base to hide the join. The 2.0 version uses a felted bobby pin and two hooks that fasten into your hair tie. The original version, still listed in six shades and mostly at 20 inches, uses a three-tooth comb and a clip underneath instead. Bellami says both can be heat styled with a heat protectant.

At $215 for 20 inches, it is the lowest-priced full product of the three, and Bellami lists it for all hair types. But it does nothing for hair worn down. Check returns before you buy too. Bellami's policy lists "clip and wrap ponytails" as final sale, and the ponytail product pages do not say whether that includes this one.

Which one suits you

  • You want hair down, fast, most days, and your hair is fine to medium and at least shoulder length: the Halo PRO.
  • Your hair is thick, short, blunt-cut or curly, or you want more than 20 inches: Silk Seam clip-ins, or the textured line for curls.
  • You mainly wear a sleek high ponytail, or want the lowest starting price: The Ponytail.
  • You want highlights or lowlights in specific places: clip-ins, which you can place piece by piece.

Whichever you choose, the return rules are the same for hair: 90 days from delivery, unopened, with the security seal and tester piece intact, and original shipping not refunded. Frequently asked questions

Is the Halo PRO better than clip-ins?

It depends on your hair. Bellami recommends the halo for fine to medium, straight to wavy hair at shoulder length or longer, and clip-ins for longer lengths and more control over placement. Clip-ins also cost less per gram.

Which Bellami extension works for curly hair?

The Silk Seam Textured clip-ins, which come in 3A, 3C and blow-out textures. The halo is recommended for straight to wavy hair.

Can I return The Ponytail?

The return policy lists clip and wrap ponytails as final sale, and the product page does not clarify whether The Ponytail falls under that. Ask Bellami before ordering if returns matter to you.

The bottom line

The Halo PRO is the easiest to wear but suits the narrowest range of hair and costs the most per gram. Silk Seam clip-ins cost less per gram and suit the widest range of hair, including curls. The Ponytail is a lower-priced option for one look. Match the product to your hair type and how you wear it, then confirm the shade before you open anything.
