James Oro Review: Sunglasses, Frame Measurements, Jewelry Materials and 14-Day Returns

James Oro is a Los Angeles eyewear label that says it has been making handcrafted premium frames since 2019. Most of its catalog is sunglasses and optical frames in acetate, metal, wood, buffalo horn and stone-set designs, alongside a smaller line of men's chains, bracelets and pendants. Most frames cost $145 to $195, the stone-set Bankroller styles reach $495, and the jewelry runs from $60 for a bracelet to $245 for a necklace.

This review covers what the brand sells, how to read its frame measurements and lens details, what the jewelry is made of, prices, shipping, the 14-day return window and the one-year warranty.

At a glance Checked October 2026

James Oro suits shoppers who want bold, statement sunglasses and are willing to compare frame measurements against a pair they already own. Each frame page lists lens width, bridge width, temple length and front frame width, and lenses are listed with 100% UV protection. The catch is the return policy: 14 days from delivery, with sale items final.

  • Best for: Statement sunglasses and optical frames, plus coordinating gold- or silver-tone chains and bracelets.
  • Typical price: $145–$195 for most frames; Bankroller styles $350–$495; chains $80–$245; bracelets $60–$165; pendants $65–$99.
  • Shipping: Free standard shipping on US orders over $200; processing 1–2 business days, then about 3–7 business days in the US.
  • Returns: Free US returns within 14 days of delivery for an exchange, store credit or refund. International orders are final sale.
  • Watch out for: Sale items and mystery boxes are final sale, and the chain listing we read gives two different base metals.

What James Oro sells

The online store listed about 490 products when we checked. Roughly 440 of those are eyewear listings, but many are the same frame in different colors: the catalog uses about 85 model names, such as the Caliber, Titan, Dune, Authentic II, Javelin, Bankroller and Godfather. The main groups are:

  • Sunglasses in acetate, metal and mixed-material frames, many with tinted or gradient lenses.
  • Eyeglasses, including clear and blue-light frames. Prescription lenses are sold through the brand's partner, Lensabl.
  • Special materials: wood, buffalo horn, iced frames set with cubic zirconia, and a few frames offered with moissanite stones.
  • Jewelry: 17 chains and necklaces, 17 bracelets and 12 pendants, each in a gold or silver finish.
  • Accessories: a $75 collector's case, $45 soft sleeve cases and a $20 Signature Care Kit, plus gift cards from $50 to $200.

Frame measurements, lenses and fit

James Oro does not use small, medium and large frame sizes. Instead, every frame page we read lists four measurements in millimeters, and the brand's FAQ suggests comparing them with a pair you already own. Three examples:

  • Absinthe Caliber ($165): 8mm acetate with stainless steel detailing; lens width 54mm, bridge 20mm, temples 145mm, front frame width 149.5mm.
  • Black Godfather: stainless steel, acetate and enamel; lens width 49mm, bridge 20mm, temples 150mm, front width 156mm.
  • Red Tint Bankroller: rimless with wood temples and hand-set baguette stones; lens width 56mm, bridge 18mm, temples 140mm, front width 145.5mm.

On lenses, the FAQ says metal and acetate rimmed frames use CR-39 lenses and rimless frames use nylon lenses, all with 100% UVA/UVB protection and a scratch-resistant coating. Product pages describe the same thing as "100% UV 400 Protection." Polarization is not standard: some models, such as the Godfather, offer a polarized option at extra cost, and the FAQ does not mention polarization at all. Check the lens option on the specific frame.

The brand gives no general fit advice, and frame weight is not listed. Some customer reviews shown on the Godfather and Caliber pages mention frames sliding down the nose or feeling small, so if you have a wide face, compare the front frame width carefully. For prescription lenses, the FAQ says most frames work depending on your prescription, Gem Cut frames are not compatible, and the Lensabl partner serves only US and Canadian customers.

Jewelry materials

The jewelry line is short and simple: Cuban link, Helix, Anello and Constellation chains in 3mm to 5mm widths, plus a few heavier designs such as the Lane and Melange, matching bracelets, and pendants sold separately. Chains come in 20" or 22" lengths, and most bracelets in 7.5" or 8.5". The Gold Cuban Link Chain 4mm costs $80 in 20" and $85 in 22", the matching 7.5" bracelet is $60, and the Lane and Melange necklaces cost $235 to $245.

The materials are less clear. On the Cuban link chain page, the specifications describe surgical-grade 316L stainless steel, while the page's FAQ describes a nickel-free copper and zinc alloy. Both mention an 18K gold or rhodium finish applied by PVD, and the listing calls it water- and sweat-resistant without claiming it is waterproof or tarnish-proof. Plating thickness and weight are not listed. The site's general FAQ also says green marks on skin are oxidation and suggests cleaning methods, so this is plated fashion jewelry, not solid gold or sterling silver. If the base metal matters to you because of allergies, ask customer service before you buy.

Prices

Prices are in US dollars. Across the eyewear listings, a quarter cost $150 or less, half cost $165 or less and three quarters cost $195 or less. Examples at the time of writing:

  • Absinthe Caliber: $165
  • Recon Titan: $175
  • Clear Silver Magnus: $195
  • Black Godfather: $199 on sale, listed regular price $250

Shipping

The shipping policy says orders take 1–2 business days to process, and US deliveries take about 3–7 business days after that, not counting weekends and holidays. Orders placed after 2 p.m. Pacific on a weekday usually ship the next day, and orders placed after 9 a.m. Pacific on a Friday or over the weekend usually ship the following Monday. Every order gets tracking by email or text.

  • US standard shipping: free on orders over $200. The rate below $200 is not listed on the policy page; it is calculated at checkout.
  • International: the FAQ says orders usually arrive in 15 to 30 business days, with taxes and total costs calculated at checkout.

Since most single frames cost less than $200, expect to pay for shipping on a one-pair order unless you add a second item.

Returns and warranty

Returns and exchanges go through an online portal (Loop Returns).

  • Window: 14 days from delivery.
  • US returns: free, for an exchange, store credit or refund.
  • Condition: original condition with all packaging intact; the brand may refuse used merchandise for exchange.
  • Final sale: sale items and mystery boxes cannot be returned or exchanged.
  • International orders: all sales final, except for defective or incorrect items.
  • Lost or damaged packages: if you bought Order Protection, file a claim through the link in your confirmation email; if not, email help@jamesoro.com.

The warranty lasts one year (365 days from purchase) and covers manufacturing and craftsmanship defects, with a free replacement for eligible items. It excludes lens scratches, accidents, misuse, normal wear, prescription lens issues and loss or theft. For jewelry, the chain listing says faded or defective pieces are replaced, and a sold-out item is replaced with one of similar value.

Who should buy from James Oro

  • Shoppers who want statement sunglasses, from tinted acetate to wood and stone-set rimless frames.
  • Buyers who know their frame measurements and can compare lens width, bridge and front width with a pair that fits.
  • Gift buyers putting together a frame and chain set, especially if the order goes over $200 for free shipping.

Look elsewhere if you need guaranteed polarized lenses on every frame, solid gold or sterling silver jewelry, or a long return window. International shoppers should note that their orders cannot be returned unless they are defective.

James Oro coupon codes

We did not find a verified public code at the time of writing, and we do not publish codes we cannot check. The site was showing several promotions when we checked: free US shipping over $200, a free gift with larger orders (a gold chain at $300 and a collector's case at $500), an Archive Sale with up to 50% off select frames, bundle pricing on frame and jewelry pairings, and a buy-one-get-one pop-up. These change often, and sale items are final sale. Any working offers we find are listed on our James Oro coupons page.

Frequently asked questions

Do James Oro sunglasses have UV protection?

Yes. The brand says all lenses provide 100% UVA/UVB protection (listed as UV400 on product pages) and have a scratch-resistant coating.

Are James Oro sunglasses polarized?

Not by default. Some models offer a polarized lens option at extra cost. Check the lens options on the frame you want.

How do I know if a frame will fit?

Compare the lens width, bridge width, temple length and front frame width on the product page with a pair of glasses that already fits you well.

Can I return sunglasses I bought on sale?

No. Sale items and mystery boxes are final sale. Full-price US orders can be returned free within 14 days of delivery.

Does James Oro ship internationally?

Yes. The FAQ gives 15 to 30 business days for international delivery, but international orders are final sale except for defective or incorrect items.

The bottom line

James Oro is a good fit if you want bold sunglasses at $145 to $195 and are happy to shop by measurements. Its frame pages are clear about measurements and UV protection, and US returns are free for 14 days. The trade-offs are short and strict: sale items cannot be returned, the jewelry is plated rather than solid metal, and orders under $200 pay for shipping. Compare the measurements with a pair you own, check whether the frame offers polarized lenses, and buy at full price if you are unsure.
