Bluemercury Review: Luxury Beauty Retailer, BlueRewards Shipping Rules and 90-Day Returns

Bluemercury is a US beauty retailer that sells prestige skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance and wellness products online and through its stores, some of which include spas. Its help center describes a range of more than 165 brands, from SkinCeuticals, La Mer, Augustinus Bader and Dr. Barbara Sturm to Oribe, Dyson and its own M-61 skincare line. Prices follow each brand's usual pricing, so most purchases fall between about $25 and $200, with sets and devices costing more.

This review covers what Bluemercury stocks, how its free BlueRewards program changes shipping and rewards, example prices, delivery options, its 90-day return policy, and the restrictions worth knowing before you order.

At a glance Checked October 2026

Bluemercury suits US shoppers who buy luxury skincare and makeup from several brands and want one place with free samples, a loyalty program and an unusually generous return policy. The main things to know are that free shipping on every order depends on joining BlueRewards, orders cannot be canceled once placed, and the store does not ship to PO boxes, military addresses or outside the US.

  • Best for: Prestige skincare from brands such as SkinCeuticals and Augustinus Bader, gift sets, and shoppers who want to return a product that did not suit them.
  • Typical price: $36–$122 for M-61 PowerGlow Peel packs; $185 for SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic; most items $25–$200.
  • Shipping: Standard is free for BlueRewards members; nonmembers pay $9.95 under $100. Express is $20.
  • Returns: 90 days from purchase, new or gently used products accepted, free by mail or in store.
  • Watch out for: No order changes or cancellations, no exchanges by mail, and promo codes and Beauty Cards cannot be combined.

What Bluemercury sells

The site is organized into skincare, makeup, hair, bath and body, fragrance, sun, gifts and sale, with shortcut sections for bestsellers, new arrivals, brands, HSA/FSA-eligible items and bundles. A few things set it apart from department-store beauty counters online:

  • Clinical and luxury skincare. SkinCeuticals, Augustinus Bader, La Mer, Sisley Paris, Dr. Barbara Sturm and Ogee are among the brands featured on the homepage.
  • M-61. A skincare line with peels, cleansers, serums and moisturizers, sold in a large range of pack sizes.
  • Exclusives and sets. Listings such as Trish McEvoy sets labeled "The Bluemercury Exclusive" and the store's own seasonal edits, for example The Hair Edit 2026.
  • Tools and home. Dyson hair tools, candles from brands such as Homecourt, and accessories.
  • Spa services. Bluemercury Spas operate inside select stores; the online store links to a spa menu and store locator.

BlueRewards: what membership changes

BlueRewards is free to join and affects nearly everything about ordering online, so it is worth understanding before you compare prices:

  • Shipping. Members get free standard shipping on every order with no minimum, and free premium shipping from $200.
  • Beauty Cards. Members earn a $10 Beauty Card for every $250 spent in a quarter, in stores or online, up to $150. Cards are issued in January, April, July and October and must be used by the end of the month they arrive.
  • Levels. The terms list three levels based on the previous calendar year's net spend: Silver ($0–$299.99), Sapphire ($300–$999.99) and Platinum ($1,000 and up).
  • Birthday gift. The rewards page promises a full-size birthday gift for members.
  • Eligibility. The terms limit membership to individuals 13 or older who are legal residents of, and located in, the continental United States, and online purchases count only if you are signed in to an online account.

Prices

Bluemercury sells branded products, so prices generally track each brand's US pricing rather than undercutting it. Examples from the store's product listings at the time of writing:

  • M-61 PowerGlow Peel: $36 (10 treatments), $72 (30), $122 (60); PowerGlow Peel Extra Strength: $42 (8), $78 (20)
  • M-61 Hydraboost Cream: $88; Vitablast C Serum: $96; Perfect Cleanse: $12 (1.75 fl oz), $32 (4 fl oz)
  • SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic: $185; P-TIOX: $150; Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2: $155; Future Mineral UV Defense SPF 50: $60
  • Augustinus Bader The Geranium Rose Body Cream: $200
  • NARS Après Ski cheek and eye palette: $62; Tom Ford Architecture foundation stick: $60; Trish McEvoy lash duo: $48
  • Lune+Aster sheet mask set: $26; Bluemercury The Hair Edit 2026: $49; Homecourt candle discovery set: $75

A sale section advertised up to 50% off when we checked, and bundles such as the M-61 Bestseller Essentials Duo showed markdowns, for example $128 against a $160 regular price for the 30-treatment version.

Shipping

According to the help center, orders placed by 12 p.m. EST are processed the same business day, with weekend and holiday orders processed the next business day. Packages do not ship on Saturdays or major US holidays, and processing can take longer during promotions.

  • Standard: free for BlueRewards members on all orders; nonmembers get it free on orders of $100 or more and pay $9.95 below that.
  • Premium: free for members on orders of $200 or more, otherwise $14.95; nonmembers pay $14.95.
  • Express: $20 on all orders, member or not.
  • Where: US addresses including Hawaii and Alaska. No PO boxes, international addresses or APO/FPO/DPO military addresses, and only one shipping address per order.
  • Hazardous items: aerosols and alcohol-based products such as hairspray, nail polish remover and fragrance can only ship by ground (standard shipping).

The help center does not give transit times for each speed. It also says orders cannot be canceled or modified once placed, including address changes, so check your cart and address carefully.

Returns and exchanges

Bluemercury's return policy is one of the more generous in beauty retail. Returns and exchanges are accepted within 90 days of purchase, and the policy says it accepts products in new or gently used condition. Returns within 90 days can go back to your original card or be issued as a gift card; returns after 90 days are refunded as a gift card. Items marked final sale cannot be returned, and samples are yours to keep either way.

  • By mail: submit a return request to get a prepaid UPS label, pack one order per box and ship by ground. Refunds are processed 3–5 business days after the return arrives, and card credits typically show 7–10 days after the confirmation email.
  • In store: online orders can be returned free at any Bluemercury store with the emailed receipt.
  • Exchanges: in store only, not by mail.
  • Gifts: refunded as a gift card.
  • Damaged items: report within 30 days of delivery through the Report Issue page on your order.

Who should buy from Bluemercury

  • Prestige skincare buyers who want several brands in one order with free samples chosen at checkout.
  • Shoppers trying a new product, since gently used returns within 90 days lower the risk.
  • Regular spenders who will reach $250 a quarter and use Beauty Cards before they expire.

Think twice if you need delivery to a PO box, a military address or outside the US, if you often change orders after placing them, or if you mainly want deep discounts, since most prices match brand pricing.

Bluemercury coupon codes

We did not find a public code we could verify, and we do not publish codes we cannot check. Verifiable offers on the site were 15% off for email or text sign-up, free samples with every order, gifts with purchase above qualifying amounts, the sale section, double BlueRewards credit on most fragrance through December 31, a 10% welcome offer on a first spa treatment, and a complimentary signature facial when you spend $250 in a store. Referred friends get a 15% code with a $25 minimum that excludes brands including SkinCeuticals, Dyson and Charlotte Tilbury. The help center says offers cannot be combined and Beauty Cards cannot be used with promo codes. Any working offers we find are listed on our Bluemercury coupons page.
