James Oro Jewelry: Chains, Bracelets and Pendants Explained (Materials, Lengths, Prices)

James Oro is best known for statement sunglasses, but it also sells a small line of chains, bracelets and pendants designed to be worn with them. When we checked there were 46 jewelry listings: 17 necklaces, 17 bracelets and 12 pendants, priced from $60 to $245, most in both a gold and a silver finish. This article covers what each group costs, what the listings say the pieces are made of (including where they contradict each other), the lengths on offer, and how care, returns and the 365-day warranty apply to jewelry. For the brand's sunglasses and general policies, see our full JAMES ORO review.

At a glance Checked October 2026

James Oro jewelry is plated fashion jewelry, not solid gold or sterling silver. Gold pieces are listed with an 18K gold PVD finish and silver pieces with a rhodium PVD finish, over a base metal that the listings describe in three different ways.

  • Best for: Shoppers who want a chain or tennis-style piece to match gold- or silver-tone frames.
  • Typical price: $60 for a basic bracelet, $80 to $85 for a basic chain, $65 to $99 for a pendant, $99 to $245 for stone-set pieces.
  • Watch out for: Conflicting base-metal descriptions, no plating thickness or weight listed, and a 14-day return window for unworn pieces only.

What the jewelry line includes

The range splits into three groups:

  • Basic chains and bracelets: the Anello (3mm rounded links), Helix (4mm double-link welded chain) and Cuban Link (4mm). Chains cost $80 in 20" and $85 in 22"; matching bracelets cost $60 and were listed in 7.5" only.
  • Stone-set necklaces and bracelets: Constellation (3mm and 5mm tennis-style, necklace $135, bracelet $99), Shard (necklace $165, bracelet $99), Lane (two rows of baguette stones, necklace $235, bracelet $135), Lane Terrene (necklace $235, bracelet $135), Glacier (necklace $235, bracelet $145), Melange (necklace $245, bracelet $135) and Cryo (necklace $245, bracelet $165).
  • Pendants: Bishop ($65), Saint ($79), Sistine ($79), Bloom ($89), Awakened ($95) and Oroboros ($99), each in gold or silver. Pendant pages state "pendant & chains sold separately."

The basic chains, the Constellation, the Lane and all six pendants come in both gold and silver. The Shard, Glacier, Melange, Cryo and Lane Terrene were listed in gold only.

Materials: what the listings say, and where they disagree

Every piece is described as PVD-plated, either in 18K gold or in rhodium for the silver tone. The product FAQ says the finish is "bonded at the molecular level" for a "water-resistant, sweat-resistant shine." The brand does not call any piece waterproof or tarnish-proof, and plating thickness and weight are not listed.

The base metal is where the listings disagree:

  • Basic chains and bracelets (Anello, Helix, Cuban Link): the Specifications section says "surgical-grade 316L stainless steel," but the FAQ on the same page says "a nickel-free copper and zinc alloy."
  • Stone-set pieces (Constellation, Lane, Melange, Glacier, Shard): both sections agree on a nickel-free copper and zinc alloy, with "diamond simulants" described as precision-cut, lab-created stones set by hand.
  • Pendants: the Specifications say a stainless steel core for the Bishop, Saint, Sistine and Bloom, and a brass core for the Awakened and Oroboros, with cubic zirconia stones and enamel on some designs. The page FAQ again says copper and zinc alloy.

The FAQ also calls the jewelry "hypoallergenic." That is the brand's claim, and with the base metal described in different ways, shoppers with metal allergies should email help@jamesoro.com to confirm what a specific piece is made of before buying. Stone colors are not always named either: the Constellation photos show colored stones, while the listing only mentions "seven unique gemstone shapes," so check the images for the exact piece.

Sizes: chain lengths, widths and bracelet fit

James Oro measures chains and bracelets by total length. Its size guides say:

  • 20" necklace: sits at the base of the neck or collarbone, described as the most popular length.
  • 22" necklace: sits just below the collarbone. The guide suggests the shorter length for a fitted look and sizing up for a relaxed drape or layering.
  • 7.5" bracelet: described as the most common size, sitting closer to the wrist.
  • 8.5" bracelet: a roomier fit with more movement.

To size a bracelet, the brand suggests wrapping a soft tape, a strip of paper or a string around your wrist where you would wear it and adding about ½" to 1". Not every piece is offered in every length, though. The Lane, Glacier and Shard necklaces were listed in 20" only, the Glacier and Cryo bracelets also come in 7.0" or 8.0", and the basic $60 bracelets showed only 7.5" in the store data even though the FAQ mentions 8.5". Check the length options on the piece you want.

Widths are listed in the product names: 3mm for the Anello and the smaller Constellation, 4mm for the Helix and Cuban Link, and 5mm for the larger Constellation. The stone-set pieces list clasp types instead, from a "custom oval double-push clasp" on the Constellation to an engraved James Oro clasp with a "two-tooth lock" on the Lane.

Pendants and building a chain set

Pendants are sold without a chain, so budget for both. The site has a Chain & Pendant page where you choose an Anello, Helix or Cuban Link chain and then a pendant, and it prices the two together as a set; pendant pages also offered a matching chain at a reduced add-on price when we checked. These set prices are promotions and may change, and the brand does not say whether bundled pieces count as sale items, which would make them final sale. Ask before you buy if returns matter.

Pendant dimensions and bail size are not listed, so you cannot confirm from the page whether a pendant will slide onto a chain you already own. Buying the pendant with a James Oro chain avoids that question.

Care, warranty and returns for jewelry

The listings give no step-by-step jewelry care instructions beyond the water- and sweat-resistant claim. For plated jewelry in general, it is sensible to take pieces off before swimming, showering or applying lotion and perfume, wipe them with a soft dry cloth, and store them separately so stones do not scratch other pieces. Every order ships in what the brand calls a three-piece box set with a faux leather travel pouch, which works for storage.

The jewelry warranty lasts 365 days. One section of the product page says "If any fading or issues with your jewelry happen, we'll replace it," while the next limits coverage to manufacturing defects, not regular wear, drops or misuse. If the original piece has sold out, the brand sends one of similar value. Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unworn pieces in original condition, and sale items and mystery boxes are final sale. International orders cannot be returned unless the item is defective or incorrect. Free standard US shipping starts at $200, which a stone-set necklace alone can reach. Any working offers we find are listed on our JAMES ORO coupons page.

Frequently asked questions

Is James Oro jewelry real gold?

No. The listings describe an 18K gold PVD plating over a base metal, not solid gold. Silver-tone pieces are rhodium-plated rather than sterling silver.

What metal is James Oro jewelry made of?

It depends which part of the page you read: 316L stainless steel, a nickel-free copper and zinc alloy, or a stainless steel or brass core for pendants. Email the brand to confirm a specific piece if it matters to you.

Do James Oro pendants come with a chain?

No. Pendants are sold separately from chains, priced $65 to $99. The basic chains cost $80 to $85, or you can build a set on the Chain & Pendant page.

The bottom line

James Oro jewelry makes most sense as a matching accessory for its frames: simple 3mm and 4mm chains at $80 to $85, tennis-style Constellation pieces at $99 to $135, and heavier stone-set necklaces up to $245. It is plated fashion jewelry with a one-year warranty, and the listings do not agree on the base metal. Choose your length from the size guide, confirm the material if you have allergies, and keep pieces unworn until you are sure, since returns close 14 days after delivery.
