Which James Oro Sunglasses Fit Your Face? Frame Widths, Bridges and Shapes by Model

James Oro sells each sunglasses model in one standard size, with XL versions of a few popular frames, and we did not find a face-shape guide on the site. What every frame page does give you is four measurements: lens width, nose bridge width, temple length and front frame width. The brand's FAQ suggests comparing those numbers with a pair you already own, and US orders can be returned within 14 days if the fit is wrong. This guide uses those listed measurements and the brand's own frame descriptions to shortlist James Oro models by face width and face shape. For the brand's policies and catalog overall, see our full JAMES ORO review.

At a glance Checked October 2026

On the James Oro frame pages we checked, front widths run from 130mm (Opus) to about 156mm (Godfather, Nighthawk, Serpent Authentic XL). Most of the popular frames sit between 143mm and 149mm, so the compact models and the XL versions are where fit really changes.

  • Best for: Shoppers who know the front width and bridge of a pair that already fits.
  • Typical price: $145 to $195 for most frames; XL versions $155 to $195.
  • Watch out for: Sale frames are final sale, and international orders cannot be returned for fit.

Start with front width, then check bridge and temples

Front frame width, the "D" measurement on James Oro pages, is the quickest way to judge whether a frame suits a narrow or wide face. Measure a pair that fits you hinge to hinge, then use it to sort the catalog. Here is where James Oro frames fall, using the listed front widths:

  • Compact (under 140mm): Opus 130mm, Coffre 132mm, Alchemist and Architect 135mm, Siren Lust 136mm, Lala 136.5mm.
  • Mid (140mm to 149mm): Authentic II 140mm, Javelin 140mm, Baron Authentic 141mm, Icon 143mm, Hustler 144mm, Grail 145mm, Signature Gem Cut 147.5mm, Titan, Dune and Amour 148mm, Hydra 149mm, Caliber 149.5mm.
  • Wide (150mm and up): Authentic II XL 150.8mm, Hunnids 152mm, Capo 152.5mm, Dune XL 155.1mm, Titan XL 155.7mm, Godfather 156mm, Serpent Authentic XL 156mm, Nighthawk 156.1mm.

Most temples are 145mm. The XL frames and several larger styles use 150mm temples, while the Opus, Lala and Bankroller use 140mm. Wraparound sport frames such as the Brinx list 115mm temples, so compare those with another wrap frame rather than a flat-front pair. One description word to treat with care is "compact": the Spectre is described as having a small lens and low-profile proportions, yet it lists a 148mm front, the same as the Titan.

Narrow faces and smaller heads: the compact frames

If your current sunglasses measure around 135mm to 140mm across, start here:

  • Opus ($145): a curved hexagonal rimless frame, 54mm lens, 19mm bridge, 140mm temples and a 130mm front. Because it is rimless, the lenses define the width, which keeps the frame visually light.
  • Lala ($145): a "slim and playful rectangular frame" in thin acetate with a pearl socket hinge, at 51mm lens, 16mm bridge, 140mm temples and a 136.5mm front. It appears in the site's Women collection.
  • Siren Lust ($165): heart-shaped gem-cut lenses on a metal chassis, 56mm lens and a 136mm front. Note the very narrow 12mm bridge.
  • Architect ($195): a compact round frame in metal and acetate, described as "more compact with smaller lenses" than the Alchemist, at 40mm lenses and a 135mm front.
  • Authentic II ($145): the first frame in the site's Best Sellers collection, a rimless rectangle at a moderate 140mm front with 54mm lenses.

Wide faces and bigger heads: XL versions and wide fronts

For wider faces, the XL editions are the most direct choice because they keep the look of a familiar model and change the numbers:

  • Titan XL ($175): 58mm lens, 22.5mm bridge, 150mm temples and a 155.7mm front, versus 54mm, 21mm, 145mm and 148mm on the standard Titan.
  • Dune XL ($175): 60mm lens, 21.5mm bridge, 150mm temples and a 155.1mm front.
  • Authentic II XL ($155): 58mm lens and a 150.8mm front.
  • Serpent Authentic XL ($175): 58mm lens, 150mm temples and a 156mm front.

Outside the XL line, the Godfather (49mm lens, 150mm temples, 156mm front) is wide across the front but uses a small hexagonal lens, and the Nighthawk, a "slightly oversized" acetate and metal aviator, lists a 156.1mm front with 150mm temples. The Hunnids is described as a "big-face acetate frame" at 152mm. One review shown on the Titan page says the oversized style suits a larger head but the temples still feel slightly short, which is a reason to compare temple length as well as width.

Check the numbers rather than the "XL" label alone: the Iced Authentic XL lists 58mm lenses but the same 142mm front width as the regular Iced Authentic, which looks like a listing error. Ask the brand to confirm before you order that one.

Matching James Oro shapes to face shape

James Oro does not publish face-shape advice beyond a few descriptions: the Icon is said to work for faces "ranging from narrow to wide," the Amour to complement "a variety of face shapes," and the Cipher and Patron to complement the face. The common styling rule of thumb is to contrast your face shape with the frame. Applied to James Oro's catalog, that gives these starting points:

  • Round faces: angular frames add structure. Look at the Titan, Dune, Authentic II, the "bold & boxy" Icon and the "tall, square" Atlas.
  • Square faces: softer lines balance a strong jaw. Consider the Hustler ("rounded edges"), the round Nomad, the oval rimless Royce and the curved hexagonal Opus.
  • Oval faces: most shapes work, so choose by front width.
  • Heart-shaped faces: frames that are lighter at the bottom, such as the Caliber flat-top aviator, the Skymaster aviator or rimless styles like the Consigliere.
  • Long faces: taller lenses and wider fronts help. The Grail's "oversized modified square" lens or the Hunnids' "towering profile" fit that brief; the Rebel, described as "short in height and wide in length," does not.

Lens height is not listed on James Oro pages, so judge it from the front-on product photos.

Bridge fit, nose pads and returns if it doesn't fit

The bridge decides whether a frame slides or pinches. The thick acetate frames, such as the Titan (21mm), Dune (20mm) and Icon (23mm), sit straight on the nose with no adjustable pads. If you have a low or narrow bridge, compare that number closely. Frames that list titanium nose pads include the Skymaster, Nighthawk, Baron Authentic and Coffre, while the Hydra, Javelin and Magnus list soft laser-engraved nose pads. Round and geometric frames such as the Attaché and Vektor (27.5mm), Avant (28mm) and Alchemist (29mm) list much wider bridges paired with small lenses, so compare them with a round frame you own rather than a rectangle.

James Oro does not offer in-house adjustments; its FAQ suggests a local optician. If the fit is wrong, US orders can be returned free within 14 days of delivery using a prepaid label (the FAQ's fit answer mentions store credit or an exchange), but sale items, mystery boxes and international orders are final. Any working offers we find are listed on our JAMES ORO coupons page.

Frequently asked questions

Does James Oro sell sunglasses in different sizes?

Each model comes in one size, but some popular frames have XL versions, including the Titan, Dune, Authentic II, Opus and Serpent Authentic. The XL versions we checked cost about $10 more than the standard size.

What is the narrowest James Oro frame?

Of the frame pages we checked, the Opus had the smallest front width at 130mm, followed by the Coffre at 132mm and the Alchemist and Architect at 135mm.

Can I return James Oro sunglasses that don't fit?

US orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery if they are in original condition, except sale items and mystery boxes. International orders are final sale unless the item is defective or incorrect.

The bottom line

James Oro gives you the numbers you need even without a fit tool. Measure a pair that fits, match the front width first, then check the bridge and temples. Narrow faces should start with the Opus, Lala or Authentic II; wider faces with the Titan XL, Dune XL or Serpent Authentic XL. Use face-shape rules only to choose between frames that already fit, and buy at full price if you are unsure, so the 14-day return window still applies.
